Autumn and Winter are ideal times for exploring the beautiful Shropshire Hills. In October and November the leaves start changing colours giving us a display to rival New England ( on a smaller scale of course ). Days are still warm, whilst nights and mornings are crisp, often with mists hanging low in the valleys. The hedgerows are full of fruits, ideal for foraging. Pick blackberries, sloes, rose hips and haws, ready to be turned into hedgerow jelly.
In Winter the trees lose their leaves, giving you the chance to enjoy their full structural beauty and a more open landscape. Snows and hoar frosts turn an already beautiful landscape into a stunning one.
Hopton House is an ideal place to base yourself and explore this magical landscape. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the sunroom whilst a log fire roars in the grate. Then wrap up in your scarves & gloves and enjoy a day out walking, explore the local market towns or just snuggle up in front of the fire or in your room with a good book, drinking tea & eating our homemade cake.

The loft room has it's own comfy sofa & armchairs, whilst the Paddock & Barn Rooms have comfy chairs to relax in whilst you enjoy the views, read a book, or watch an old movie ( we have DVD players so please bring your own films to enjoy )
If you'd rather not go out in the evening we can supply a platter of local cheese, smoked salmon or antipasti for you to enjoy in your room or the lounge in front of the fire. Just bring you own wine and enjoy!
Our rooms are warm and pampering with additional heating if you need it. The baths are large, perfect for a long soak after a day out exploring and, in Winter, our well stocked tea trays also have hot chocolate and marshmallows to warm you up after your walk.
